Wow! I can't believe how many people I know from the span of my life are on Facebook. I mean people I went to elementary, middle, and high school with. These are people I actually have wanted to connect with since back in those days and haven't thought about who would know where they are these days. This site is amazing, and can be easily used to market anything. If one can enter these circles, the possibilities are endless. If I were fully connected to these people, and someone told me about a new movie ect., the word would travel like wildfire.

The Social Network
Social networking sites are popping up all over the place now. Do I belong to any? No. I guess I'd rather miss out on any news that my friends, who live all over the country, have in their lives. But I probably should join one, and not Myspace. Well now more than ever sites are out there to join and keep up with friends for the older crowd. Sites like aSmallWorld and Multiply are a good start, so "they" say for the socialites byond their teens. I joke and say that I don't want to be updated as to how my friends are doing. But really as more of them have children and it becomes harder to talk on the phone, it seems like a good idea. Maybe I'll take advantage of my homework assignment in a week or two in MKT595 class, and update my friends on my life....we'll see.

Second Life Gets Attention in the Office!
Once a program or new trend takes form in popular media, or even has a mention....it has real potential or gets real attention. Second Life was recently featured in what I consider as one of the best sitcoms (if you will) on TV right now, Office. Last episode Second Life was displayed on a computer screen showing two character's Avatars, both of which were almost identical representations of the characters themselves. The side plot or scene, suggested that one of the characters could escape from the real worlds misfortunes in Second Life and pretend he could have a second chance, since his character is so unusual.
I think when popular shows feature a trend like this one, it not only speaks to the fact that it's already gaining enough attention to be mentioned, but it will help push it along as well. For anyone who watches the Office who doesn't know about Second Life, it may prompt them to do a search on. The scene also was a mini advertisement in the way it actually described the purpose of the program and it's use. I wonder if Second Lift didn't pay for that mention. I would not doubt it!!

Second Chance
Second Life, should be called Second Chance. For people who didn't get everything they needed in real life, Second Chance could be just that. You can buy new hair, clothes, and talk to people who you may not have had the guts to talk to real life. But I guess you can also have the opportunity to talk with people who you probably would never have had the chance to talk to, because of geographic obstacles too. From a marketing perspective I think it has the chance to take off, and become very profitable for some companies. Look at the lady who already made her first million, I guess she just opened the door for others. We'll see, if this is just another new idea or will it have to "chance" to exist for generations to come like any sound idea would.

Internet Marketing
It's amazing how many businesses don't have a presence on the Net. Day in and day out I pass by store fronts of businesses that can survive and do quite well without, however I wonder how long they will be around for. It is such an essential part of business today that most should invest in a web page and some type of promotion toward it. Even if they are simply letting people know they have a presence, they can at the least communicate basic info that if customers didn't pass by the store front daily, they would know.

Tivo and Technology
Tivo is amazing.....until Comcast's DVR. I've had Tivo for the past several years, but once I got my HD LCD TV, I had to go with Comcast's DVR, because Tivo's DVR is over $900. Fine. Now that I am hooking my Tivo up again in the bedroom, I am having the same problems that I have every time I use a new piece of technology. Because I use a wireless connection for Tivo, for some reason Tivo won't recognize my network. Problems. Always problems. Whether Tivo, or a computer, or Comcast or whatever!!!!!! Technology has too many problems for me. Sometimes I think about throwing all of my equipment out, it's simply not worth it. If companies want to appear to the customers more positively they must make use simple, period!!!

Holy Cow!
Amazing! This is so easy, I can't believe that with just a few clicks you have reached the inter workings of my mind. Google has really taken this whole thing pretty far, pretty quickly. If only blogging was around years ago, companies could have take advantage a whole lot sooner. Anyways, we can watch as they do so now, and utilize these tools for marketing extremes. Can't wait to see what's next. More to come.....
